The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo will open on September 5, bringing a 61-day international event dedicated to the culture, environment and future of islands to several locations across Yeosu.

Billed as the world’s first international exposition centered on islands, the main venue is the Jinmo district of Dolsan, with additional programs on Gaedo and Geumodo islands and at the Yeosu Expo site.

Visitors will be able to explore a series of themed exhibition areas focusing on subjects including marine ecosystems, the future of islands, culture and natural resources. Outdoor areas overlooking the sea will complement the exhibitions, with spaces for visitors to rest and experience Yeosu’s coastal landscape.

Organizers held a large-scale rehearsal at the Dolsan venue on August 29, allowing around 5,000 local residents to preview the expo.

The rehearsal tested 14 areas of operation, including transportation, parking, admissions, exhibitions, food services, safety and medical response.

Families who attended highlighted children’s activities and visitor facilities as strengths, while some participants said clearer signs and navigation information would make it easier to move between the expo’s large number of attractions.

The Yeosu World Island Expo runs through November 4.
