The Seoul Metropolitan Government is hosting special Lunar New Year programs at two Han River landmarks — Hangang Play Place at Ttukseom Hangang Park and Seoul Battleship Park in Mangwon — offering traditional games and performances throughout the holiday period.

At Hangang Play Place, located inside the J-Bug structure at Ttukseom Hangang Park, the “Seollal Playground” will run from February 14 to 18, excluding Lunar New Year’s Day on February 17.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the program features ten traditional Korean games, including giant yutnori, jegichagi, neolttwigi, tuho, and traditional archery-style activities. A jegichagi competition will be held on February 15, with on-site registration and small prizes for top participants.

In addition to hands-on activities, visitors can enjoy balloon and juggling shows, magic performances, coloring stations, and a lighthearted New Year tarot card experience. A movie screening program will also be held in the “Under the Bridge” zone, showing family-friendly animated films and popular Korean movies twice daily during the holiday.

At Seoul Battleship Park in Mangwon Hangang Park, a one-day “Seollal Traditional Games Festival” will take place on February 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors can participate freely in jegichagi, tuho, and team-based yutnori tournaments, along with face painting and balloon art activities. The event concludes with a children’s storytelling performance based on a traditional folktale, designed for families to enjoy together. The park remains open throughout the holiday except on Lunar New Year’s Day.

Seoul City plans to continue expanding seasonal and holiday-themed programming across Han River parks and cultural spaces, offering residents and visitors more opportunities to enjoy the river as a year-round leisure and cultural destination.
