1. Gwangyang Maehwa Flower Festival

If anyone asks how this little town in Korea’s southwestern province Jeollanam-do has appeared on tourists’ radar, it is because of plum blossom trees! All around the village on the hillside at the festival site are plum blossoms, as if white snow has blanked the area. If you cannot wait for spring to come in Korea, start from Gwangyang.

Best time to visit

  • Around the first week of March and mid-March (March 8~March 17)

How to get there

2. Boseong Green Tea Festival

Boseong is in the southern province of Korea and 40% of the domestic green tea production happens here. The Green Tea Festival is held during the leaf-picking season, and you can enjoy various activities and events such as tea ceremonies and green tea markets. This was also a filming location for a popular Korean drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea”.

Best time to visit

  • Around the first week of May (May 2~6)

3. Goyang International Flower Festival

If you miss the popular cherry blossom festivals or actually prefer a wider variety of flowers in one spot, Goyang International Flower Festival is your paradise. More than 200 teams from 25 countries will exhibit their signature flowers! Have a day in Goyang City and appreciate the rare indoor plant exhibitions and outdoor flower art pieces.  

Best time to visit

  • Between the last week of April and the mid-May (April 26~May 12)

4. Gurye Sansuyu Festival

Sansuyu flowers, or cornelian cherries, usually bloom fully just after maehwa (plum blossoms) in the southern part of Korea. Gurye is the most popular spot for sansuyu watching in Korea, also located in Jeollanam-do. Therefore, you may catch sight of maehwa in Gwangyang and sansuyu in Gurye at the same time around mid-March! Spare a day to dive into the spring vibe where sansuyu trees paint the village with bright yellow flowers!

  • Between mid-March and the last week of March (March 16~March 24)

5. Anseong Farm Land Canola Flower & Ryegrass Festival

Anseong Farm Land is the perfect day out destination in spring, just about 1 hour away from Seoul. At this huge open farm, you can welcome the warm weather in two different styles; one side of the vast hills is full of canola flowers while the other showcases fresh, rich-green ryegrass fields!

Best time to visit

  • Between mid-April and the first week of May (April 16~May 2)

6. Taean Tulip Festival

When the cherry blossoms pass their best time, it’s tulips’ turn to fill the gap. Taean Tulip Festival has a record of “World’s Top 5 Tulip Festivals Worth Travelling For” from World Tulip Summit Society in 2015 and 2017, along with the ones in USA, India, Turkey and Australia.

You can get two different atmospheres depending on whether you travel for a day view or an evening view. When the sun is out, over 2 millions of tulips spread before your eyes with vivid colors; after the sun is gone the flower garden shines with dazzling lights! Simply pick your preference and the best time is guaranteed.

  • Between mid-April and mid-May (April 13~May 12)
