World-renowned violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman is set to return to Busan for the first time in 10 years, with a concert and educational program drawing attention from the local classical music community.
According to the KNN Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, Zukerman will perform on June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Busan Concert Hall.
The concert will be conducted by Seo Hee-tae, with the orchestra accompanying the maestro. His last performance in the city was in 2016, marking the launch of the Busan Cultural Center.
Now 78, Zukerman has spent more than five decades as a leading figure in the global classical music scene, known for his refined technique and nuanced musical interpretation. Over his career, he has released around 100 recordings and received multiple Grammy Awards nominations and wins, establishing a strong presence both as a soloist and orchestral collaborator. He has also been active as an educator, teaching for more than 30 years at the Manhattan School of Music.
The Busan program will feature works by Ludwig van Beethoven, including the Violin Concerto in D major and Symphony No. 7. Zukerman is expected to perform using his 1742 Guarneri del Gesù “Dushkin” violin, known for its rich tonal depth.
The performance is seen as a significant collaboration between an internationally acclaimed artist and Busan’s growing classical music scene.
Founded in 2016, the KNN Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra has focused on expanding access to classical music and strengthening the city’s cultural profile.
In addition to the concert, Zukerman will lead a public masterclass for music students at Pusan National University on June 1, offering violin-focused instruction and mentorship for emerging musicians.
