With dramatic sunsets, scenic coastlines, colorful photo zones, cherry blossoms and sparkling night views, Sacheon in Gyeongnam Province is gaining attention as one of Korea’s top destinations for photography-focused travel.
As images of Sacheon’s landscapes continue to spread through social media, YouTube and television programs, more visitors are making the trip, drawn by a reputation that “everywhere looks like a photoshoot.”
Among the city’s standout attractions is Silan Sunset, considered one of Korea’s nine most beautiful sunset spots. Here, crimson skies meet the blue Namhae coastline and scattered islands offshore, creating one of Sacheon’s signature views. Nearby coastal walking paths and the 339-meter Sunset Observatory Bridge offer additional scenic vantage points, especially after dark when landscape lighting adds to the atmosphere.
The Sacheon Sea Cable Car remains one of the city’s best-known landmarks and photo attractions. Stretching 2.43 kilometers across sea, islands and mountains, the cable car offers sweeping views of the South Sea, surrounding forests and sunset skies. At night, illuminated views of the cable car and Samcheonpo Bridge create another popular photography scene.
Another rising attraction is Sacheon’s Rainbow Coastal Road, a roughly 3-kilometer drive lined with colorful installations, sculptures, benches and nighttime lighting. The route has become a social media favorite, particularly for its seaside photo spots and sunset backdrops.
For travelers seeking history and nature, Daebangjin Gulhang offers a quieter setting beneath Samcheonpo Bridge. The historic harbor, originally built during the Goryeo era, combines wooded walking paths, calm waters and scenic sunset views, making it a favorite among photographers and travel content creators.
Seonjinri Fortress offers a different appeal depending on the season, with cherry blossoms in spring and red spider lilies in autumn transforming the historic site into a picturesque walking destination.
Yongdu Park and nearby Cheongnyongsa Temple provide another mix of seasonal scenery, featuring open lawns, forest trails, windmill-themed gardens and spring double cherry blossoms that have become popular with couples and photographers.
