The 28th Sacheon Waryong Cultural Festival will take place from April 24 to 26 at Sacheon City Hall Plaza, bringing one of the region’s signature spring events back with an expanded program of performances, cultural activities, and hands-on experiences.

Held under the theme “Fly Waryong, Play Sacheon,” this year’s festival reinterprets the city’s symbolic dragon through a mix of modern performances and traditional elements, with a stronger focus on visitor participation and extended stay experiences.

The opening day will feature a large-scale “dragon ascension fire performance,” followed by an opening ceremony and concerts featuring artists including Son Bina, Zion.T, and K.Will. Daytime programming will include local arts performances, busking, and interactive games designed for all ages.

On April 25, the schedule continues with community-led performances, traditional shows such as the Gasan Ogwangdae mask dance, and a K-pop talent program highlighting emerging performers. The evening will be headlined by the Sacheon Road Parade, bringing together professional performance groups and competition winners.

The final day will feature additional performances, including traditional music, magic shows, and a closing concert lineup that includes Shin Seung-tae and Oh Yujin.

Throughout the festival grounds, themed zones and interactive programs will be in operation. “Waryong Land” will showcase large-scale dragon installations and photo zones, while experience areas will offer activities such as fortune-telling, crafts, and family-friendly workshops. Visitors can also explore job experience programs, games, and creative activities designed for younger audiences.

Food and local culture will play a central role, with dedicated areas featuring local specialties, food trucks, and market-style vendors. Additional events, including a kite-flying competition and wellness programs, will run alongside the main festival.
