Cheongsapo, a popular stop along the Haeundae Blueline Park route will soon have a designated photo zone designed to keep visitors out of the roadway.
Haeundae-gu announced it will complete the Cheongsapo Beach Train traffic improvement project by March, expanding the sidewalk near the area to create a safer space for photos. The project began detailed design work in November and is supported by 122 million won in city funding.
As part of the plan, a portion of one uphill lane heading toward Jwadong will be converted into a widened sidewalk.
The expanded area, about 127㎡, will function as a photo zone that can hold up to around 85 people at a time. Protective railings and left-turn guidance markings will also be installed.
The move follows repeated safety concerns after tourists began stepping into the middle of the road for photos, often ignoring signals.
Visitor numbers surged after the 2023 release of The First Slam Dunk, with Blueline Park recording 3 million riders last year.
A fatal accident involving a village bus in 2022 also raised alarm.
Officials say the goal is to finish construction before spring, when crowds return in full.
