The Namhae Tourism Association has named marine leisure activities and fresh eel as the highlights of its July edition of “This Month’s Namhae,” a monthly campaign promoting the county’s seasonal attractions and local cuisine.
This month’s theme encourages visitors to experience Namhae’s coastline through a variety of outdoor activities before enjoying one of the region’s signature summer dishes.
At Sangju Eunmorae Beach, visitors can try “super earthing,” a barefoot walk along the beach designed to help people reconnect with nature while strolling across the soft silver sand. The association says the experience offers a relaxing way to unwind while listening to the sound of the waves.
For those looking for more active pursuits, Songjeong Solbaram Beach offers surfing, while Mijo Port and Woncheon Port feature activities such as yachting and octopus pot fishing experiences, giving visitors a chance to explore Namhae’s coastal waters firsthand.
After a day on the water, the campaign highlights eel as one of the season’s must-try local specialties.
Considered a traditional summer health food in Korea, eel is prized for its rich flavor and firm texture during the warmer months and is commonly enjoyed grilled.
The “This Month’s Namhae” campaign is a monthly initiative that pairs seasonal attractions with regional food to introduce visitors to different aspects of Namhae throughout the year.
