Visitors to Seoul City Hall will soon have more opportunities to take in the capital’s skyline after dark, with extended evening hours beginning September 4.

The Sky Observatory, located on the eighth and ninth floors of the main City Hall building, will remain open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through October.

Winter hours from November through February will run until 9 p.m.

Admission is free and no reservation is required.

Visitors can take a dedicated elevator from the first floor to the ninth floor, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of Deoksugung Palace, Gwanghwamun, Sungnyemun Gate and Sejong-daero.

The observatory opened in July and attracted more than 66,000 visitors during its first eight weeks.

Beginning September 18, City Hall will also offer guided nighttime tours on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Advance reservations for the tours open September 15.

Exterior lighting at City Hall and the Seoul Metropolitan Library will also remain illuminated until 11 p.m. daily.
