Seoul Art Week opens Aug. 31

Seoul Art Week returns today for a week of exhibitions, art fairs and special programs across 141 venues throughout the capital.
Running through September 6, the fourth edition will feature 159 exhibitions and programs at museums, galleries and independent art spaces, alongside major international fairs Frieze Seoul and Kiaf Seoul at COEX.
This year introduces an Opening Night in Euljiro on August 31, with 20 visual arts spaces staying open late for exhibitions, performances, artist talks and other events. A free shuttle bus will circulate through the neighborhood from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
British artist Ryan Gander’s The Find will also come to Seoul, with 16,000 artwork coins distributed at locations including Euljiro, COEX, the Seoul Museum of Craft Art and the Seoul Baekje Museum. Visitors who discover the coins can keep them.
Other highlights include exhibitions at the Seoul Museum of Art and Seoul Museum of Photography, along with residency tours offering visitors access to artists’ studios at the Seoul Art Space Geumcheon and Sindang Art Studios.
Kiaf Seoul runs September 2 to 6, while Frieze Seoul takes place September 2 to 5.
Seoul Art Week will also include exhibitions at private galleries and museums across the city, as well as Seoul Light DDP, which will bring media art installations to Dongdaemun Design Plaza during the festival.
