As autumn settles over Seoul, data shows that the city’s traditional palaces have become the most beloved destinations for both locals and tourists.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s analysis of “Seoul Tourism Data” from October, Gyeongbokgung ranked first in social media mentions, followed by Changgyeonggung and Changdeokgung in fifth place, and Deoksugung in seventh.

The study, based on social media activity, mobile data, and spending patterns, highlights that visitors are drawn to the blend of history, architecture, and autumn colors offered by Seoul’s royal sites. Posts featuring night views of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and strolls through palace courtyards in hanbok were especially popular.

Other top fall destinations included Seoul Forest (2nd), Cheonggyecheon Stream (4th), Namsan Seoul Tower (6th), and Yeouido Hangang Park (8th).

Seoul Forest attracted attention for its scenic walking paths and sunset views, while Cheonggyecheon was praised as a peaceful urban retreat.

Namsan saw a surge in young and foreign visitors, partly driven by the popularity of the “K-dehun” animation linked to Korean pop culture.

The city also operates the Seoul Real-Time Data Platform, allowing residents and visitors to check congestion, traffic, and parking conditions across 120 key areas, helping everyone enjoy Seoul’s autumn beauty more comfortably.
