Seoul Botanic Park is turning its indoor Mediterranean greenhouse into a hydrangea-filled spring showcase with the return of its annual Romantic Hydrangea Exhibition from May 2 to May 31.

Now in its eighth year, the popular seasonal display features more than 500 hydrangea plants developed by the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, introducing visitors to a wide range of Korean-bred varieties known for their vibrant colors and unique petal forms.

Among the featured blooms are Pink Ari, one of the earliest deep pink flowering varieties, Green Ari with its distinctive green accents, Morning Star known for its strong blue and violet tones depending on soil conditions, and newer cultivars such as Pink You and Summer Star, both developed for ornamental garden use.

To match the floral display, the greenhouse will also include large hydrangea fountain installations and a blue canopy-style photo zone, creating a romantic indoor garden atmosphere throughout the month. Informational panels placed along the exhibition route provide visitors with background on hydrangea cultivation and the development of domestic varieties.

Held in partnership with Jeollanam-do’s agricultural research institute, the exhibition has become one of Seoul Botanic Park’s signature spring flower events and offers one of the city’s largest concentrated hydrangea displays before the rainy season begins.
