Seoul is expanding its design and landscape improvement program, with new projects aimed at transforming public spaces into more attractive destinations for both residents and visitors.

The city recently completed a major upgrade in Myeong-dong, adding enhanced nighttime lighting, new public plazas, and improved pedestrian areas.

A redesigned underpass near the Central Post Office now features transparent railings, creating a new viewing point for the popular Shinsegae Department Store media façade.

Looking ahead, Seoul plans to develop the area around the future Seoul Arena in Dobong-gu into a K-pop and cultural district with improved streetscapes and nighttime attractions ahead of the venue’s planned 2027 opening.

The city has also selected five new design projects for 2027, including Danghyeoncheon Waterfront in Nowon-gu, Magok Green-Culture Square in Gangseo-gu, Yongwangsan Street Garden in Yangcheon-gu, Changdong IT-DA Plaza in Dobong-gu, and Hangang Greenway Warming Station in Gangdong-gu.
