Seoul is expanding its urban film culture with the launch of a rooftop cinema at the Seoul Film Center. The new “Sky Cinema” will begin regular screenings on May 15, offering outdoor films set against the night views of Namsan and central Seoul.

Since opening in November, the Seoul Film Center has drawn an average of 600 visitors per day, with ticket reservations reaching 86%. The venue has positioned itself as a public film space, hosting festivals, screenings, and educational programs.

Sky Cinema will operate every Friday at 8 p.m., featuring a mix of music, youth, and classic film screenings. Programs will also include guest visits and discussions with filmmakers and actors, along with special showcases of independent and art-house films.

Alongside screenings, the center is expanding hands-on programs. These include smartphone filmmaking courses, walking tours through Chungmuro focused on video production, and youth film camps.

The center will transition to paid admission starting June 1, with ticket prices set at 7,000 won for adults and 6,000 won for students, alongside discounts and membership benefits.
