Seoul will introduce a new public fitness program called Swirom Swirom Morning on March 14, temporarily opening parts of major downtown roads to residents for exercise and outdoor activity.

The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. around Yeouido Park, where sections of Yeouidaero and roads near Mapo Bridge will be partially closed to traffic.

The program allows citizens to walk, run, cycle, or participate with strollers and pets in a safe open space normally reserved for vehicles.

Several activity zones will be set up at Yeouido Park’s Culture Plaza, including a mobile Seoul Fitness Center where participants can measure their physical fitness.

Other facilities will include a stretching zone, a bicycle repair area, a children’s care zone, and a photo area for visitors.

The event will also follow a zero waste concept. Participants are encouraged to bring personal water bottles, while water stations will be installed along the route to reduce plastic waste.

To minimize traffic disruption, only 일부 lanes between Mapo Bridge and Yeouidaero will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., allowing vehicles to continue using other lanes. City officials are encouraging visitors to use public transportation due to limited parking around Yeouido Park.

Advance registration is available through the Seoul Sports Council website, though same day registration will also be available on site.
