Seoul has designated key walking routes within Seoul Forest Park as pedestrian-only paths aiming to improve safety and ease congestion in one of the city’s most visited green spaces.
A total of 22.7 km of pathways, including major trails around the central lawn area, are now restricted to walking only. Under the new rules, bicycles and other two-wheeled vehicles are no longer allowed to be ridden within these sections, though they can be walked through the park.
The measure comes in response to increasing visitor numbers and a rise in safety concerns caused by mixed pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
City officials expect the change to reduce collision risks and create a more comfortable environment for all visitors, including children, elderly users, and those with disabilities.
Bicycle access will still be permitted in designated outer sections connecting to the Hangang area, while enforcement and on-site guidance will be increased during peak times to minimize confusion.
