The Seoul Museum of Science will host its annual “Midsummer at the Science Museum” festival from July 29 to August 2, offering five days of interactive science activities for children and families during the summer vacation.

This year’s event features a “science market” theme, allowing visitors to choose from a variety of hands-on experiences.

Activities include dyeing fingernails with balsam flowers while learning about chemistry, decorating pet rocks to explore geology, making eco-friendly mosquito repellent, and discovering ecosystems through rice paddy wildlife exhibits.

Science magic shows, bubble performances, and interactive exhibition tours will also be held throughout the festival.

On August 1, the museum will extend its hours until 10 p.m. for a special evening program. Visitors can enjoy a live tornado demonstration and take part in summer constellation observation sessions at the museum’s observatory.

Most programs are free and do not require advance reservations, although a small number of activities will begin trial operations on July 25.

Organizers expect around 37,000 visitors to attend this year’s festival.
