A pop up exhibition based on the globally popular webtoon Solo Leveling will be held in Gyeongnam Province, marking the first time the event has taken place outside the Seoul metropolitan area.
Gyeongsangnam do, Changwon City, and the Gyeongnam Tourism Foundation announced that the “Solo Leveling Pop Up in CECO” will run from March 27 to May 17 at the Changwon Convention Center. The 52 day exhibition will take place in the permanent exhibition hall on the first floor of the venue.
Solo Leveling, originally a web novel by author Chugong and later adapted into a webtoon in 2018, has gained global popularity with more than 14.3 billion cumulative views. The series has since expanded into animation and games, becoming one of the most recognized Korean webtoon intellectual properties worldwide.
The exhibition will also highlight the work of the late webtoon artist Jang Sung rak, known by the pen name DUBU, who was born in Geochang in South Gyeongsang Province. Organizers say the event will showcase his artistic legacy while promoting regional cultural tourism.
The venue will feature several themed sections including exhibition areas, photo zones, a tribute area dedicated to the artist, merchandise shops, and interactive experience zones. The artist zone will display Jang’s creative process, personal collections, and artwork related to the series.
Visitors will also be able to take part in interactive activities such as augmented reality experiences that allow them to summon the webtoon’s “shadow army,” create personalized hunter identification cards, and participate in stamp tours and mission games.
A merchandise shop will sell about 2,800 licensed items across 58 product types, including acrylic stands and keyrings. Limited edition goods featuring Gyeongnam’s mascot “Byeori” will also be produced in collaboration with local companies.
