Early signs of spring are appearing at the Gyeongnam Arboretum, where a variety of seasonal flowers have begun to bloom as temperatures gradually warm.

Several early spring species are now flowering throughout the grounds, signaling the transition from winter to spring and drawing the attention of visitors.

One of the first flowers to bloom is the Adonis amurensis, commonly known as the Adonis flower, often referred to as a “messenger of spring.”

The bright yellow flower is known for its ability to bloom even through snow and frozen ground, symbolizing resilience and the arrival of a new season. Its golden petals open fully in sunlight, adding vibrant color to the landscape.

Wintersweet is also beginning to bloom, filling parts of the arboretum with a soft fragrance. The flower typically blossoms in late winter and is known for its distinctive scent, which helps attract insects even during the colder months.

Other early spring plants are beginning to appear as well. The Edgworthia shrub is producing soft yellow blossoms, while cornelian cherry trees are developing clusters of small yellow flowers along their branches.

Officials say the blooming flowers are gradually transforming the arboretum into a seasonal viewing spot as more spring plants begin to emerge in the coming weeks.

Gyeongnam Arboretum plans to continue expanding plant displays and outdoor spaces as part of efforts to develop the site into a botanical and cultural space where visitors can enjoy nature and relaxation throughout the year.
