When it comes to finding your way around the peninsula, nothing can beat the Kakao map and Naver apps. These offer more detailed and up-to-date information than what you may normally se overseas. However, when it comes to finding your way around the bases in South Korea, you may find these fall short.

Instead, try Waze.

Like other navigation map apps, Waze alerts about traffic, speed traps and will help you find the fastest way to avoid traffic and save you time. Waze also streamlines your music and podcast apps for easy navigation while still being able to listen to your favorite tunes or show.

One of the more valuable features of Waze is the user-contributed content involving destination updates, photos and warnings about traffic jams and speed cameras. However, Waze is still gaining steam, so this feature is still developing and growing.

Waze is available on Google Play or the Apple Store.
