The Tongyeong Cable Car on Korea’s southern coast is preparing a series of spring events timed with the upcoming Clipper World Yacht Race, which will take place in Tongyeong from March 16 to 22.
According to the Tongyeong Tourism Development Corporation, visitors riding the cable car during the event will be able to watch yachts sailing through the Hallyeo Waterway from the Skywalk Observatory at the upper station.
To mark the occasion, the first 400 children who ride the cable car during the race period will receive commemorative binoculars to help them enjoy a closer view of the yacht parade.
Additional performances are also planned as part of the spring program. Under the theme Tongyeong Cable Car Playing Spring, live music performances will be held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for three weeks starting March 20 at the Skywalk Observatory.
The Tongyeong Cable Car, known for its panoramic views of the Hallyeo Waterway, recently surpassed 17 million cumulative passengers. Since opening in 2008, it has grown into one of the region’s most popular coastal attractions.
