A new cultural and dining landmark is set to debut on the Taehwa River, as Ulsan completes construction of the Ulsan World Food Culture Center on the Ulsan Bridge pedestrian walkway.
The space, designed as a meeting point for foreign residents and local citizens, will begin recruiting restaurant operators this month ahead of its official opening in March.
The center will feature restaurants representing six countries, including Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Italy, along with shared dining areas, a café, offices, and a lounge.
Visitors will be able to enjoy international cuisine while taking in panoramic views of the Taehwa River and its sunset scenery.
The project reflects Ulsan’s increasingly multicultural population, driven by its manufacturing and shipbuilding industries.
With roughly three foreign residents per 100 people, the city is seeking to create spaces that provide both cultural comfort for international residents and global food-culture experiences for locals.
Four compact pavilion-style buildings have been constructed along the bridge, with renovated design elements transforming the walkway into what the city describes as a new cultural platform.
Safety was a key priority during development: the bridge underwent structural and wind-load reviews, displacement monitoring during construction, and will continue to be measured for six months post-completion. Railings have been raised and CCTV installed to enhance security.
The city plans to link the center with nighttime lighting projects, festivals, and cultural programs, positioning the bridge as part of a broader tourism and leisure belt along the Taehwa River and as a showcase attraction for visitors ahead of the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo.
