Seoul is once again turning everyday urban spaces into open-air galleries, as its three major Media Art Seoul exhibition platforms launch winter shows designed to bring warmth and reflection to the city’s colder months.
Starting on December 21 and running through March 19, Seoul presents free winter exhibitions across Atelier Gwanghwa, Haechi Madang Media Wall, and Seoullo Media Canvas, offering nightly media art displays that blend technology, storytelling, and public space. The Haechi Madang Media Wall operates from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, while the other venues are open from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
At Atelier Gwanghwa, a large-scale media façade on the Sejong Center exterior, the winter season marks the debut of its first-ever emerging artist competition. Three new media artists were selected, signaling a shift toward discovering fresh creative voices in the media façade field. Their works explore connection, perception, and the nature of objects through immersive visual narratives.
Nearby, the 53-meter-long Haechi Madang Media Wall delivers comforting winter-themed works that emphasize warmth, memory, and seasonal stillness. From playful character-driven animations to contemplative pieces reflecting generational stories, the installations invite passersby to slow down and engage.
At Seoullo Media Canvas, displayed on the exterior wall of a building near Manridan Square, winning works from animation and nature-themed media art competitions are showcased. The platform continues its role in supporting emerging artists while expanding public access to contemporary digital art.
