Tongyeong has completed a major renovation of the children’s playground at Yi Sun-sin Park, finishing safety inspections and preparing the space to reopen to the public.
The project was carried out using 242 million won in special government funding allocated for improving aging public playgrounds.
Facilities installed in 2010 had shown signs of wear, prompting the city to replace older play structures and slides and fully refurbish the shock-absorbing ground surface to improve safety.
Key additions include a new 21-meter-long slide and a redesigned multi-play structure that combines climbing, balance, and interactive elements. The upgrades are intended to encourage physical activity while supporting children’s creativity and confidence through play.
With the renovation complete, Yi Sun-sin Park is expected to function more fully as a family-friendly space, offering areas for walking, coastal views, barefoot walking paths, rest zones, and play areas suitable for different age groups.
