Bulgogi was chosen as the top Korean food to eat by foreigners living in Korea according to a new survey by CJ CheilJedang.

Though the sample size was small at just 100 foreigners living around the country, the online survey showed some interesting results.

According to Korea Bizwire:

‘Bulgogi’ and ‘jjimdak’ have been found to be two of the most popular Korean dishes among foreign nationals living in South Korea, according to a new survey.

Other popular dishes included bibimbap, yukgaejang, dakbokeumtang, kimchi and samgyetang, according to the survey.

When asked why, an overwhelming majority of 66 percent said they like taste of the dishes, particularly their ‘spiciness’ and ‘sweetness.’

When it came to the first impression of Korea food, 29 percent said ‘simple’, while 27 percent said ‘tasty’’, with 16 percent branding Korean food as ‘healthy’.

Nearly 75 percent of the respondents said they want to bring Korean food with them when they return to their native countries, with kimchi and gim (dried seaweed) among the most popular items to travel with.
