Everybody Loves Swag!

Effective January 1st, USO Humphreys - Sentry Village has rolled out a new volunteer milestone program. The goal of our milestone program is to recognize your hard work and contributions to the USO mission. To that end, each volunteer will have the opportunity to earn points for every shift you cover.

BLUF:

  • Beginning January 1st, any volunteer already signed up for a shift will begin accumulating points. Volunteers continue to earn points by signing up for, and attending, future shifts.

  • Each shift qualifies for a set number of points, as detailed in the chart below. For those volunteers who provide coverage during irregular times, such as an hour during the lunch rush, points will accumulate at a rate of 1 point for every 2 hours volunteered.

  • There is a 70-point max for accumulated points. Once 70 points have been accumulated, you will not earn additional points for shifts, until points have been redeemed for rewards.

  • All volunteers are held to the USO' s Code of Conduct found in the Volunteer Handbook. Violating these guidelines may result in a loss of accumulated points. If this occurs, you 'll also have a detailed discussion with staff covering what happened.

  • If volunteers leave the USO without redeeming points, points may be lost.

  • Points are not transferable to other locations.

FAQ

If I redeem points, does it affect my total volunteer hours?

No, your hours and points are tracked separately

Do past hours count towards points?

No, to keep it fair all volunteers are starting at zero points on January 1st, and will begin accumulating points from then onward

Do my points expire?

Points can sit indefinitely; they 'll only expire when you leave the USO

If my account goes inactive for a few months, do I lose my points?

No, you won 't lose any points if you ' re too busy to join us for a few months. Just, as a courtesy, let us know when you can expect to return

Point System

*A "Last Minute Shift" is determined by staff, based on sudden or unexpected circumstances. Examples include when a volunteer has to cancel and we're required to fill the shift on short notice, or when a program arises suddenly. Other exceptions may be made as staff deem appropriate, and "Last Minute Shifts" opportunities will be clearly communicated to volunteers.
