The city of Busan has selected 396 restaurants as the first batch of beneficiaries for its “Busan-Style Foreign Language Menu Support Project,” the largest initiative of its kind in the country.

The project aims to support approximately 2,000 general and dining establishments across the city by providing foreign-language menus.

In this initial phase, restaurants were chosen based on their participation in various food policy projects, such as the Hygiene Rating System, Model Restaurant program, and Safe Restaurant initiative, as well as their proximity to major tourist attractions.

Selected establishments will receive foreign language menus in two formats: a booklet type and a QR code type, with optional translation support for kiosks.

To address the challenge of menu changes, the project will also introduce an online platform that allows business owners to easily update their menu information.

Applications for the second phase are currently open until September 30, with business owners able to apply online or through their local district or county environmental sanitation departments.
