Starting in mid-August, Changwon will introduce a drone delivery service in three downtown parks.

The city completed an inspection of the ‘drone delivery service’ facilities and safety management at Daewon Sports Park on the 30th of July.

City officials evaluated the safety management system and the installation of safety facilities at the ‘delivery base’ where drones take off and land and at the ‘delivery points’ where goods are dropped off. They also examined potential issues and inconveniences that may arise from drone deliveries.

The service will be available at Bukmyeon Riverside Ecological Park, Daewon Sports Park, and Mannal Neighborhood Park, with three delivery points in Bukmyeon and Mannal Park, and four in Daewon Park. Users can place orders via the drone delivery app ‘Nargo’ and receive their items at the designated delivery point within 10 to 15 minutes.

During the trial period, approximately 20 types of products, including drinks, water, and snacks, can be ordered, with a delivery weight limit of 3kg. Orders will be transported in bags labeled with the orderer’s information, and CCTVs will be installed to prevent theft. The estimated delivery fee is around 1,000 won.

K-Drone Delivery, a project promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, involves drones automatically moving along pre-set flight paths between delivery bases and delivery points.

This initiative is being implemented in 14 local governments, covering 32 islands, 17 park areas, and 1 port area.
