(Seoul City Government)

To coincide with the peak autumn travel season and China’s National Day holidays, Seoul City and the Seoul Tourism Association have designated October 1 to October 8 as the “2024 Seoul Welcome Week” for foreign tourists.

Under the theme, “Seoul’s Autumn, Color Your Memories,” the city aims to create a welcoming atmosphere at key tourist spots, including Myeong-dong, Hongdae, and Gangnam, with special greetings displayed on outdoor screens.

The highlight will be the Welcome Center at Myeong-dong, where tourists can experience traditional games, K-crafts, and enjoy welcome drinks. English, Japanese, and Chinese-speaking staff will assist visitors with travel information.

There will also be lucky draw events featuring unique Seoul souvenirs such as traditional snacks, mugs, and fashion items.

The initiative, which follows a successful spring edition, supports Seoul’s “3-3-7-7” tourism vision: attracting 30 million foreign visitors, with an average spend of 3 million KRW, 7-day stays, and a 70% return rate by 2026.
