Busan’s youth and indie cultural scenes will take center stage this May with two major events: the 2025 Jakdang Festa and the Ovantgarde 7th Anniversary Performance Series.

The Jakdang Festa, organized by Youth Jakdangso, will be held on May 10 and 11 under the theme “Youth’s Cultural Universe, Expansion in 5 Years,” marking the fifth anniversary of the Youth Artists Association.

Events include the Milky Way Stage, a live outdoor concert at BNK Art Cinema in Nampo-dong, where young musicians will showcase and collaborate across genres, and the Youth Film Festival, featuring screenings of independent and experimental films by emerging directors, followed by director-audience talk sessions.

Meanwhile, Ovantgarde, a small live performance space in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, is hosting 17 concerts until June 1 in celebration of its seventh anniversary. Over the course of a month, 42 artist teams will take the stage, presenting a diverse range of indie genres from rock and ska to electronic and acoustic.
