Il Trovatore Gala Concert (Busan Culture)
Busan Culture, a leading performance planning company, will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a gala concert of Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore on Tuesday, August 19, at 7:30 pm in the Middle Theater of the Busan Cultural Center.
Composed by Giuseppe Verdi and based on Spanish Romantic writer Antonio García Gutiérrez’s play El Trovador, the four-act opera tells a tragic tale of love, revenge, and fate, centering on medieval knights and a gypsy woman. Recognized as one of Verdi’s three great operas, it continues to captivate audiences more than two centuries after its creation with its timeless themes of passion, jealousy, and vengeance.
The production will feature traditional opera costumes and props, bringing to life the intense psychological conflicts, resentment, anger, and love that drive the story.
The cast includes soprano Hong Eun-young, mezzo-soprano Lim Eun-ju, tenor Kim Kyung-cheon, baritones Kim Hong-gyu and Seo Yong-gyo, and pianist Kim Min-kyung.
An opera specialist will provide live commentary, offering insight into the historical background and plot, making this a rare opportunity for Korean audiences to engage deeply with Il Trovatore.
All seats are priced at 50,000 won. Tickets can be purchased through the Busan Cultural Center or Interpark (www.interpark.com).
