Busan-based galleries are gearing up for Korea’s biggest art fair, Kiaf Seoul 2024, held alongside Frieze Seoul from September 4 to 8.

This year, 11 galleries from Busan will participate, slightly fewer than last year’s 13.

Johyun Gallery is the only one joining both Kiaf and Frieze, presenting distinct strategies at each.

At Frieze, they’ll showcase works by notable artists like Park Seo-bo and Kim Jong-hak, while at Kiaf, they’ll focus on a two-person exhibit featuring Bosco Sodi and Ahn Ji-san.

OKNP, another participating gallery, plans to highlight its exclusive artists, including Sangsoo Ahn and Jiana Kim, with a focus on artistic presentation over sales. They’ve also arranged a special exhibition in Busan for collectors who are unable to attend the fair.

Other Busan galleries, like Art Sohyang, Date Gallery, and Soul Art Space, will also participate, each bringing a selection of works from emerging and established artists, aiming to make a significant impact on the national stage amidst a challenging art market.

Kiaf Seoul 2024 will feature 206 galleries from around the world, while Frieze Seoul 2024 will include 110 galleries.
