(Busan International Dance Festival)

The 21st Busan International Dance Festival (BIDF) will run from June 4 to 8 across multiple venues, including Haeundae Beach, Gwangalli Beach, Busan Cinema Center, Busan Citizens Park, and Suyeong Historic Park.

This year’s festival features 50 works by about 30 performance groups from nine countries including Korea, Hungary, France, and Canada.

Highlight performances include the full staging of Carmina Burana by Hungary’s Szeged Contemporary Ballet Company (SCDC) at the Busan Cinema Center’s Haneul Theater.

Marking its Asian premiere, the modern ballet will be performed three times from June 5 to 7.

Another anticipated work is No Matter, a Korea-France co-production by Hervé Koubi, which will premiere in Korea on June 6 at Haeundae Beach and again in full on June 8 at the Sky Theater.

The Haeundae Beach Special Stage will host a free gala performance from June 6 to 7, featuring modern, street, folk, and ballet works from participating countries, set against the coastal sunset.

Additional performances include traditional Korean pieces like Suyeong Yaryu and Dongrae Hakchum on June 8 at Suyeong Historic Park.

Special events include the youth program Traveling the World with Dance on June 4–5, ballet workshops on June 6–7, and various street performances and citizen programs throughout festival venues.

BIDF also hosts international performing arts leaders and festival directors, reinforcing its role as a platform for global cultural exchange.
