Busan is expected to see higher-than-average temperatures through October and November, but a potential cold wave may hit by December, according to the latest three-month forecast from the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
October is projected to be warmer than the typical monthly average of 14.3’C, and November’s temperature is likely to hover around the usual 7.3’C.
However, the outlook changes dramatically for December, where there is a 50% probability that temperatures in Busan will be near the average, a 30% chance of lower-than-average temperatures, and only a 20% chance of a warmer-than-usual winter.
The anticipated dip in temperatures is linked to the potential development of La Niña, a weather phenomenon known to bring colder and drier air to East Asia.
This, combined with global warming effects, could lead to increased volatility in Busan’s winter climate, making the city more susceptible to sudden cold snaps compared to previous years.
