Gwanghwamun Square

(Seoul City Government)

Starting from November 7, visitors can explore the rich history and evolving beauty of Gwanghwamun Square through a captivating photo and video exhibition.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is organizing the event, titled Rediscovering Gwanghwamun Square, to celebrate and reflect on the square’s shared moments with citizens since its reopening in 2022.

This exhibition includes a diverse collection of visual content, from photographs of Gwanghwamun’s transformation to citizen-contributed short videos.

Award-winning works from a recent public contest, which received 279 photo entries and 53 short videos, will be on display, including notable pieces such as “Flying over the Square” (a Taekwondo performance) and “Rebirth of Gwanghwamun through History” (highlighting symbolic elements with digital enhancements).

In addition to these entries, the exhibition will showcase winning pieces from the Gwanghwamun Square Children’s Drawing Competition, capturing the square from a child’s perspective. This unique view allows generations to connect through shared memories of the square.

Visitors can also relive major events like the square’s reopening ceremony, World Cup street cheering, and the beloved seasonal Seoul Summer Beach event.

To further enhance the experience, a new AI Guide and a video chronicle will bring Gwanghwamun Square’s past and present to life, providing an engaging look into its history and significance.

All exhibition content will also be available online via the Gwanghwamun Square website and Instagram.

The exhibition runs through November 30 at Gwanghwamun Square Nori Madang.
