A series of esports competitions beginning with the Esports Permanent Stadium Opening Commemorative Competition on October 26 in Gyeongnam are scheduled to take place, with events continuing throughout the year.

These events aim to engage participants of all ages and highlight the region’s commitment to growing the esports and gaming industries.

The opening ceremony on October 26 will feature finals for Valorant and FC Online, alongside autograph sessions with well-known former Starcraft players Hong Jin-ho and Do Jae-wook, and a special performance by singer Mad Clown.

Esports competitions for various age groups, including middle and high school students and office workers, will be held throughout the remainder of the year.

Notable events include the Gyeongnam Middle and High School E-Sports League on November 23 and the Gyeongnam Office Worker E-Sports Competition on December 7. These competitions aim to foster teamwork and friendly competition while providing stress relief and enjoyment.

On November 30, the Gyeongnam Governor’s Cup E-Sports Campus Competition will take place alongside a Special E-Sports Competition, offering university students a platform to showcase their skills.

A special highlight of the event will be the chance for participants to compete directly with star gamers and popular internet broadcasters. The Governor’s Cup finals will also be broadcasted at the 2024 Gyeongnam Content Fair at the Changwon Convention Center.

Additionally, Gyeongnam is continuing its efforts to boost the gaming industry. The Gyeongnam Global Game Center, opened in May at Hanma Hall, Gyeongnam National University, along with the esports stadium, serves as a hub for esports growth.

With 12 companies already operating, the center is dedicated to game content development and offers comprehensive support for game startups, including incubation, production, and talent development.

The Gyeongnam Esports Stadium, housed in the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Gyeongsang National University, features a 500-seat main stadium, a 76-seat auxiliary stadium, and cultural spaces such as a startup incubation room, exhibition hall, and cafe lounge, making it a versatile venue for esports competitions and cultural events.
