(Jinju City)

Jinju City will host the ‘Jinjuseong Starlight Walk’ at the historic Jinjuseong Fortress from October 7th.

Running during the city’s October festival, the event offers a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and history of Jinjuseong under the stars, along with cultural performances and traditional experiences.

The Starlight Walk debuted in 2019 and is now in its 4th year. Visitors can enjoy an evening full of immersive experiences starting with a traditional weapons and military uniform showcase at Jungyeong, the former office of the Chief of Staff of the Gyeongsang Right Byeongyeong during the Joseon Dynasty. Participants can try on traditional uniforms and learn about the significance of these historical artifacts.

The program continues with a poetry recitation session, followed by a traditional tea tasting at the picturesque Chokseokru Pavilion. Guests will be introduced to the basics of Korean tea etiquette and enjoy a hands-on tea-tasting experience. The event concludes with a view of glowing lanterns adorning Jinjuseong and a traditional Korean music performance featuring instruments like the gayageum and haegeum.

The Starlight Walk will run twice daily for 60 minutes each, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., from October 7th, primarily on weekdays. To maintain an intimate and engaging atmosphere, each session will be limited to 20 participants.

Interested individuals can register in advance on the Jinju City Hall website’s reservation system (www.jinju.go.kr/yeyak) starting from October 3rd. If there are available slots due to cancellations, on-site registration will be open as well.
