As spring unfolds in vibrant color, Gyeongnam province has unveiled 12 recommended photo spots where visitors can experience and capture the season at its peak.

From rose gardens in full bloom to tranquil tea fields and mountain slopes painted with rhododendrons, the province offers a diverse array of landscapes that highlight the beauty of Korea’s springtime.

The initiative encourages travelers to explore areas where “photos become art” — places that offer both natural beauty and unforgettable memories.

In Changwon, Rose Park showcases more than 10,000 roses each May, transforming the urban garden into a fragrant escape. Visitors can enjoy a walk around the rose tower, trails, and fountain, surrounded by floral displays.

In Tongyeong, the Gwangdo Light Road becomes a sea of hydrangeas in June. The streamside path is lined with blue blossoms and serves as the venue for the Hydrangea Festival, which includes performance zones and flea markets.

Gimhae’s Suro Royal Tomb becomes a canvas of orange azaleas in late spring. The flower-lined walls, glowing under the sunset, offer a peaceful setting for photography and reflection.

On Geoje Island, the Hydrangea Road in Nambu-myeon winds along the coast, where pink and blue flowers meet views of the sea — a favorite route for leisurely drives and photo stops.

At Chilseo Ecological Park in Haman, the contrast between green barley fields and delicate peonies creates a vivid spring scene. The Green Barley and Peony Festival, held May 9–11, includes hands-on activities for visitors.

Hwangmaesan Mountain, spanning Sancheong and Hapcheon, is known for its stunning pink rhododendrons each May. The Hwangmaesan Rhododendron Festival, from May 1–11, features a variety of events set against the mountain’s blooming slopes.

In Miryang, Wiyangji becomes adorned with clusters of poplar blossoms in early May. This spot is ideal for a nature walk among blooming trees and lakeside views.

Grace Garden in Goseong, a lesser-known location, offers a serene woodland setting rich with hydrangeas and a metasequoia path — a peaceful place to unwind among nature.

Seom-i Garden in Namhae, located within Hallyeohaesang National Park, blends European-style gardens with ocean views. Built on terraced rice paddies, it offers a mix of elevated and intimate garden experiences.

Jeonggeum Tea Field in Hadong is surrounded by the iconic green waves of wild tea plants, with visitors able to enjoy spring scenery and sample Hadong’s traditional teas in a peaceful rural setting.

In Geochang, Changpowon Flower Garden, the first official provincial garden in Gyeongnam, is home to more than 1 million irises. The Geochang On Spring Festival (May 16–18) celebrates this floral abundance with installations and activities.

Alongside these spots, seasonal festivals bring additional energy to the province. Events include the Changnyeong Nakdong River Canola Flower Festival (April 18–20), Chilseo Ecological Park Green Barley and Peony Festival (May 9–11), and the Geochang On Spring Festival (May 16–18). These festivals offer immersive experiences that combine nature, culture, and community.
