As Chuseok approaches, the retail industry is ramping up marketing efforts with department stores and large marts each targeting different consumer groups.

Department stores are focusing on premium and limited-edition gift sets, while large marts are holding major food discount events,.

At Lotte Department Store’s Busan Main Branch, premium gift sets are the highlight this Chuseok.

In the wine gallery located on the second basement floor, customers can find exclusive offerings such as ‘Chateau Petrus,’ a renowned wine priced around 10 million won per bottle.

The store is also featuring ‘Tsukuriwake 2024 Selection,’ a limited-edition Yamazaki whiskey set, allowing customers to explore various single malts. Additionally, Lotte is offering ultra-premium Korean beef sets, such as the ‘Cow No. 9 Premium’ (8.8 kg) priced at 3 million won, and the ‘ElPremier Apple, Pear, Shine Set,’ a large-fruit set priced at 190,000 won.

Shinsegae Department Store’s Centum City branch is also emphasizing luxury with its Chuseok offerings.

Until September 15, premium items such as ‘Chateau Haut-Brion’ priced up to 9.1 million won and Shinsegae’s ‘5-Star Luxury’ series are available.

High-end meat sets include ‘Premium Hanwoo Special’ at 2 million won, while fruit sets like ‘Premium Select Farm Hamper’ priced between 290,000 and 310,000 won are meticulously selected for their quality. Seafood sets such as ‘Premium Traditional Gulbi’, which are up to 1.2 million won, are also available.

Large marts are taking a different approach, focusing on family-friendly food discounts.

Homeplus is running a ‘Galbi Universe’ event until September 11, offering up to 40% off on holiday foods like braised short ribs.

With discounts for MyHomeplus membership members, products such as ‘American Choice Refrigerated Braised Short Ribs’ (100g) are priced at 2,670 won.

E-Mart is offering deals on seasoned pork and salmon, with up to 43% off certain items through early October.
