(Busan Concert Hall)
The Leipzig St. Thomas Choir, an 800-year-old German boys’ choir once led by Johann Sebastian Bach, will perform at the Busan Concert Hall on September 12 at 7:30 pm as part of Classic Busan.
This marks the choir’s first visit to Korea in a decade.
Conducted by Andreas Reize, the performance will feature collaborations with organist Felix Schönherr, cellist Sascha Wehrhau, and double bassist Tillman Schmidt. Schönherr, who also serves as vice-chantor at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, will present a solo performance on the Busan Concert Hall’s Freibrüger Orgelbauer pipe organ, the first of its kind installed outside Korea’s metropolitan area.
The program will showcase sacred choral works, highlighting the ensemble’s long-standing role in preserving and performing the European choral tradition.
Forty-two choir members are scheduled to appear, delivering pieces that emphasize both Bach’s legacy and the broader repertoire of church music.
Tickets are priced at 70,000 won (R seats), 50,000 won (S seats), and 30,000 won (A seats).
Discounted tickets are available for middle and high school students in the Busan and Gyeongnam area.
Reservations can be made through the Busan Concert Hall website (classicbusan.busan.go.kr), Play(NOL), Interpark Ticket, Ticket Link, and Yes24.
