Namildae Beach (Sacheon City)
Namildae Beach in Sacheon will officially open from July 11 to August 24, with the city prioritizing safety, visitor convenience, and its reputation as a marine tourism destination.
On May 14, Sacheon City held its 2025 Beach Council meeting at the Hyangchon-dong Administrative Welfare Center, joined by representatives from the Sacheon Fire Station, Marine Police, and other agencies to coordinate a safe and enjoyable beach operation.
This year, Sacheon will once again partner with a private professional firm for beach safety management and aims to install swimming boundary markers and jellyfish prevention nets one week before opening. Preparations will also include sand grooming along the shoreline.
To strengthen safety readiness, all safety personnel will undergo a swim and rescue ability test on June 26 at Samcheonpo Indoor Pool.
Additionally, joint training sessions with fire and marine police departments will provide practical instruction on rescue procedures, CPR, and emergency response protocols before the beach opens.
Namildae Beach derives its name from Goun Choi Chi-won, a scholar from the late Silla Dynasty, who admired the beach’s clear blue sea, white sandy shores, and surrounding natural beauty.
The beach is nestled among low mountains on three sides and features a variety of uniquely shaped rocks, adding to its picturesque charm. Its half-moon shape enhances the scenic views, particularly the stunning nightscape.
The beach is ideal for families and couples. Unlike other beaches, Namildae boasts soft sand, minimizing the risk of injuries for young children, and shallow waters, making it safe for kids to play.
