Seoul’s Han River parks will come alive with diverse weekend programs throughout May and June, offering residents and visitors a playful mix of physical activity, wellness, and cultural events.
From block-stacking tournaments to dancing in Kangoo shoes and family yoga at sunset, the city is expanding its cultural outreach to make the riverfront more engaging for all ages.
Starting May 10, the 2025 Han River Jenga Tournament will hold qualifying rounds at Jamsu, Ichon, and Gwangnaru parks, where teams of two will compete for spots in the finals on May 31 at Yeouido Park. The tournament, which began last year, has grown into a citywide event with 16 finalist teams vying for the championship.
On the same day, the “Dance Dance in Kangoo Shoes” event will take place at Gwangnaru Park. Led by international Kangoo trainer Choi Min-kyung, participants will bounce and dance in special jumping shoes, creating a dynamic spectacle along the riverside. Up to 50 pre-registered participants can join the session, while spectators are encouraged to enjoy the show.
On May 24, Sunset Family Yoga will offer a peaceful contrast, inviting families to gather at Ichon Park for an hour of gentle movement and bonding against the backdrop of the setting sun. Led by instructor Song Eun-kyung, the session is open to all ages and fitness levels, with 40 spots available through advance registration.
In addition to these headline programs, art and family events will continue at the “Reading Han River Park” initiative, with 7,500 books and various performances available at four Han River locations each Saturday. Face painting for children, pop-up photo zones, and outdoor library experiences will be featured, especially on May 17 and 24 at Ichon Park.
All programs are free and require pre-registration through the official Reading Han River Park website. Capacity is limited and early sign-up is recommended.
