Seoul is hosting regular weekend taekwondo performances at Namsangol Hanok Village through October 18 as part of efforts to introduce Korean culture to both domestic and international visitors.

The event, now in its 19th year, features two shows every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., excluding July and August due to summer heat.

A total of 11 performance teams, including the Kukkiwon Demonstration Team and national team members, will present a variety of shows ranging from traditional demonstrations to fusion performances incorporating K-pop and musical elements.

In addition to performances, interactive taekwondo experience zones are set up before and after each show, allowing visitors to try basic techniques such as kicks and board-breaking. Weekend programs also include themed activities like “Taekwon Punch” and photo zones with mascots.

Starting in June, foreign visitors can also join free taekwondo workshops, try on uniforms, and receive certificates and themed belts after the session.

The city also plans to expand taekwondo street performances to other tourist sites such as Insadong and Hongje Waterfall, following recent events at Dongdaemun Design Plaza and other locations. Updates are available on Instagram at @seoul.tkd.
