For those stationed at Camp Humphreys, various public transportation options are available when traveling to Seoul, including subway, trains, and buses. Depending on your destination within Seoul, choosing the right option can significantly ease your journey.
For instance, if your destination is Seoul Station, trains such as Mugunghwa or ITX might be the most efficient choice among public transportation. On the other hand, if you’re headed to Southeast Seoul (Gangnam-Jamsil areas), taking the SRT or express buses can be great options.
Personally, I prefer express buses over SRT when going to Jamsil or Gangnam for several reasons. First, SRT tickets often sell out quickly. And taking the subway to Pyeongtaek Jije Station, where the SRT stops, requires a 20 minute trip from Pyeongtaek Station. After getting off the SRT at Suseo Station, it takes another 20-30 minutes to reach Jamsil or Gangnam by subway. In contrast, express buses can take you directly from Pyeongtaek to Jamsil with a similar travel time and less walking or complexity.
Getting tickets on the day of the trip is usually not difficult, but during holidays and weekends, it’s strongly recommended to buy tickets in advance.
There are three different bus routes to Seoul at two different express bus terminals near Pyeongtaek Station’s Exit 1, so please check the following information carefully.
