Prices for dining out at restaurants in Busan have risen the highest in the country according to recent statistics released by the government.

According to the National Statistical Office (NSO), food prices in the first half of this year rose 2.7 percent from the same period last year nationally, while in Busan, they rose 3.2%.

Of the 39 items that make up the statistics for the price of dining out survey, all of the items, excluding school lunch expenses which fell 8.0%, were higher than the first half of last year.

Meals with the highest price increase were galbitang at 5.9%, followed by dosiriak at 5.7%, gimbap at 5.3%, jjammpong at 5.2 percent, raw fish at 4.7%, jajangmyeon at 4.5%, tteokbokki at 4.5% and seolongtang at 4.4 percent.

Items that rose the lowest were steak, makgeolli, pizza and coffee.

It’s the highest increase in prices for dining out since the first half of 2016.
