BUSAN, Republic of Korea (Aug. 17, 2018). Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK) and Commander, Republic of Korea Fleet (CRF) hosted Harry Harris, the U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK), during his first official visit to Busan Aug. 17.
The visit included office calls with Rear Adm. Michael E. Boyle, commander, CNFK, and Vice Adm. Jung, Jin-sup, commander, CRF, as well as an all hands call with Sailors from both commands.
“Ambassador Harris’ visit underscores the importance of the strong partnership between our navies to the US-ROK alliance,” said Boyle. “We look forward to seeing how the regional knowledge and experience he brings from his time as the former U.S. Pacific Command, and before that U.S. Pacific Fleet commander, will continue to strengthen the relationship between our two nations.”
Previous visits to CNFK by Ambassador Harris were conducted in 2014 and 2017 during his time as the commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Pacific Command, respectively.
CNFK is the regional commander for the U.S. Navy in the Republic of Korea and provides expertise on naval matters to area military commanders, including the Commander for the United Nations Command, the Combined Forces Command, and Commander, U.S. Forces Korea.
