As graduation ceremonies around the nation near, the price of flowers has also risen to record highs.

Over the past year, flower prices have risen, putting pressure on consumers. With university graduation ceremonies continuing this month and entrance ceremonies early next month, flower prices are expected to remain high for the time being.

According to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation flower distribution information on the 12th, the daily average price of roses rose 84.7% more expensive compared to last year.

Most popular flowers around graduation have risen between 30% to 43% from a year ago.

As the auction price rises, the retail price is also at an unaffordable level.

A bouquet with decorative flowers on a single layer of freesia costs 40,000 won. Graduation ceremony bouquets are being sold for 50,000 to 90,000 won, and even online, bouquets were at least 50,000 to 60,000 won.

The rise in costs is attributed to the rise in the price of materials such as decorations and packaging materials and heating costs, as well as demand with the easing of restrictions for face-to-face graduation ceremonies.
