U.S. military community members in Pyeongtaek learning Minhwa, Korean traditional painting, and are having a special exhibition at the Osan Air Base Officer’s Club on March 6 from 4-6 p.m.

Minhwa includes traditional art techniques and materials like hanji paper, natural pigments and animal-hair brushes. The art form is related to Korean folk painting originating from the Joseon Dynasty and portrays the daily lives of commoners as well as elements of nature like flowers, butterflies, tigers and magpies.

The artwork featured in the exhibition is from students studying Minhwa under Professor Jeanny Lim at the Hangyeong National University’s Pyeongtaek campus. The paintings will also be on display from March 7-12 at the Osan Library.

The Minhwa classes are held every Wednesday and are free for members of the U.S. military community. Contact the organizers for more information.
