United States Army Garrison-Humphreys (USAG-H), Pyeongtaek, South Korea – Welcome Wagon of Korea is pleased to announce that as of 27 September 2024, it has been approved to act as a private organization on USAG-H. This initiative aims to provide a warm welcome to new PCSers arriving in Korea, with a mission to greet 10,000 Soldiers and family members each year.

Mission and Goals:

The Welcome Wagon of Korea is dedicated to creating a positive first impression for Soldiers and their dependents as they arrive at their new overseas home after a long and tiring journey. Our goal is to ensure that each newcomer feels welcomed and supported from the moment they step off the bus or plane.

Volunteer Activities:

Volunteers will greet each bus of new PCSers arriving at Maude Hall, providing them with essential information, snacks, and a warm welcome. This program operates six times per day, seven days a week to receive arrivals from Incheon International Airport, with additional opportunities on Mondays and Wednesdays for Patriot Express arrivals.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We are actively seeking more spouse and Soldier volunteers to sustain this initiative. The time commitment is approximately one to two hours per shift. Interested volunteers can register through the Army’s Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS) by searching for “Welcome Wagon of Korea” through the following URL: https://vmis.armyfamilywebportal.com/volunteer/opportunities.

Compliance and Registration:

In accordance with USAG-Camp Humphreys’ Guidelines, Welcome Wagon of Korea will maintain and operate under by-laws, a current Officers & Membership Roster, Monthly Financial Statements, Monthly Meeting Minutes, Bonding Insurance, and Commercial Liability Insurance.

Contact Information:

For more information or to get involved, please contact: Kelly Karwel, Welcome Wagon of Korea Coordinator (and President) at w.w.ofkorea@gmail.com. We look forward to working with the Camp Humphreys community to grow this mission to welcome all Soldiers and Families arriving to their new Army home in the Republic of Korea.
