This summer, Humphreys Middle School (HMS) was anything but quiet. From June 2 to August 6, nearly 30 volunteers from the Camp Humphreys community rolled up their sleeves to help prepare the school for a successful start to the academic year. Led by HMS Administrative Officer Mr. Michael Robinson and supported by Humphreys Complex School Liaison Officer Dr. Dennise Buissereth, the initiative brought together a diverse group united by a shared mission: to ensure HMS was ready to welcome students on day one.

Volunteers, including members of the Humphreys Volleyball Academy, active-duty service members, parents, and students worked side-by-side with school staff to transform key learning spaces. A storage room was converted into a fully functional science lab, one of two art rooms was relocated to the second floor, and a brand-new music room took shape. Meanwhile, classrooms for newly arriving teachers were set up. Every chair moved, box unpacked, and poster, hung reflected the community’s deep commitment to education.

Camp Humphreys Volleyball Academy (CHVA) Volunteer Coordinator Ms. Kristine Rivers shared, “The Camp Humphreys Volleyball Academy student athletes had a great time giving back to their community! The middle schoolers were especially excited to help get their school ready to welcome back students for the next school year!”

She added, “It was great to see the CHVA student athletes bonding together, laughing and working hard to benefit Humphreys Middle School!”

Thanks to the dedication and teamwork of these volunteers, HMS is now fully prepared to launch into a school year rooted in excellence and aligned with DoDEA’s Blueprint for Continuous Improvement.
